Concealer 101 : How to use Coloured Concealers?

Concealer is a product used to hide dark under-eye circles, pimples, scars and other imperfections. Concealer comes in a range of skin tones, but some blemishes may require a different colour to cover up better.

First, let’s try to understand the colour wheel :

In order to neutralize a colour, you must use the opposite colour on the colour wheel. For example, green neutralizes red, orange neutralizes blue, etc

Green concealer : Minimizes redness (acne, scars)

Purple concealer : Covers yellow tones in the skin (If it involves the entire face, use a purple primer instead).

Orange concealer : Hides bad dark circles with bluish undertones. It also reduces the appearance of freckles, age spots and hyperpigmentation

Yellow concealer : Yellow concealers have the same functions as green concealers. It covers up acne, scars and blemishes that is pink toned. It also hides dark circles with purple and blue undertones.

Blue concealer : Reduces the appearance of fake tans. If you have dark skin, this shade will help you to hide dark circles.

Pink concealer : Used to cover up green veins and under-eye circles (people with darker skin tone tend to get greenish under-eye circles rather than purple)

Tips : Apply a concealer that matches your skin tone over the coloured concealer to even it out. Too much of concealer will make your face look cakey.

XOXO
